LAND DEVELOPMENT

Aspen Springs Subdivision

Aspen Springs Subdivision:  This is a nine lot cluster-type development in Gallatin County.  This challenging project provided a vast amount of open space for agricultural purposes and for the protection of wetlands and wildlife.

Middle Creek Parklands Major Subdivision

Middle Creek Parklands Major Subdivision:  Located in the Gallatin Valley near Four Corners is a 252-lot residential and commercial subdivision that provides open space and/or parkland to almost every resident.

Middle Creek Parklands Layout

With our unique design and the foresight and generosity of the developer, we were able to provide a ten-acre donation to the nearby Monforton School.  By realigning a County Road, this school was made much safer by making it a closed campus.

Sky View Major Subdivision

Sky View Major Subdivision:  Located in Ennis, Montana is an 84-lot subdivision situated on the edge of town with breathtaking views of the Spanish Peaks Mountains and the northern Madison Range.

WATER RESOURCES

Tamarack MineTamarack Mines:  The Tamarack mine is an underground gold mine located in the Tobacco Root Mountain Range in Southwestern Montana.  The mine owners desired to put the mine back into production.  Gateway Engineering & Surveying, Inc. surveyed the property to verify the mine's small miner's exemption and to establish baseline topography.  The survey information was used to design a tailings impoundment and other improvements that would put the mine back into production.  The project was started and completed in 2007 and the mine began active extraction and on-site processing of the ore.

Tamarack MineHaving shown the potential for profitable mining at Tamarack, the mine is now seeking to obtain a full mining permit from the Montana Department of Environmental Quality.  Tamarack mine has selected Gateway Engineering & Surveying, Inc. in partnership with KirK Environmental Services to complete the mine operation permit.  The second phase of this project, which is currently underway, includes the following:

  • Tailings impoundment design and permitting
  • Waste rock dump design and characterization
  • Land application design and locating for process water
  • Topographic and boundary surveys
  • Road design
  • Storm water runoff design and permitting
  • Geotechnical analysis

Spring Water Colony Storage TankSpring Water Colony:  Gateway Engineering & Surveying, Inc. is the TSP for the Spring Water Colony waste management system as planned by NRCS.  Gateway has designed a pump and pipelines from the existing dairy operation and a new hog barn to carry fluids to a 24-foot by 64-foot concrete storage tank.  There the fluids will be agitated and pumped to a Screw Press Separator.  Separated solid wastes will be placed on a new stacking slab while liquid waste will be directed to lined holding ponds.  This will allow for mechanical handling of the solids and sprinkler application of the liquids stored in the pond.

Bitterroot Irrigation Siphon

Bitterroot Irrigation District:  Completion of a preliminary engineering report to assess options for replacement or repair of a 5,000-foot long pipe siphon across the Bitterroot River.  Work includes assessment of problems associated with crossing the river and its affect on the river as well as the affect on wetlands and riparian areas.

SURVEYING

Climbing Arrow Ranch

Climbing Arrow Ranch: This beautiful parcel of land located in the Bridger Mountains provided many challenges to the surveying team as they traversed rough terrain to find original stones set in the early 1900's.

Ruby River Ranch Monument

Ruby River Ranch:  Next to the "Stinking River", later named the Ruby River, this parcel of land provided many opportunities of finding stones and scribed posts.

Barker Ranch Monument

Barker Ranch:  This project in Wisdom, Montana provided an opportunity for long hikes to find original monuments that were found and witnessed by out survey team.
